Vichy is a French skincare brand who label themselves as one of Europe’s leading anti-aging skincare brands. They provide many skincare products for many skincare issues, such as anti-blemish products, acne treatments and hydrating products too.
However, I know you are wondering…
Are they a cruelty-free brand?
And do they allow their products to be sold in countries which enforce animal testing (i.e. mainland China)?
Scroll down to find out.
Vichy's Animal Testing Policy
Vichy’s animal testing policy can be found on their website within their FAQ section. In it they also link to the policy of their parent company, which is L’Oreal, who are not cruelty-free.
I have linked their animal testing policy in full below:
Vichy does not test any of its products or any of its ingredients on animals, anywhere in the world nor does Vichy delegate this task to others. The only possible exception is if regulatory authorities required it for safety or regulatory purposes. To learn more about animal testing please click here.
The above animal policy statement confirms that Vichy is NOT a cruelty-free brand, because they choose to sell their products in countries which enforce animal testing by law (i.e. mainland China).
Is Vichy Sold in mainland China?
Yes, Vichy is sold in stores in mainland China, meaning that this brand is NOT cruelty-free.
As they have stated on their website. The brand will allow the authorities to test their products on animals if the law requires them to do so. The Chinese authorities require foreign brands sold in stores in China to allow them to test their products, and even their ingredients, on animals. Which means since Vichy chooses to sell their products in China, they cannot be considered cruelty-free.
